GLORIA NCKU shines at Bio Asia Taiwan

National Cheng Kung University and its start-ups made another splash at the annual Bio Asia Taiwan from July 24-28 with their seven innovative testing technologies, according to the school’s research-industry group.
The Global Research and Industry Alliance of the Tainan-based school (GLORIA NCKU) duplicated its success at a similar convention in the U.S. a month earlier, showcasing the latest biotechnology applications and successfully attracting partners from home and abroad.

Highlights included the world’s first dengue virus serotyping rapid test by Eternal Materials, which can help obtain the needed info within 25 minutes, effectively contributing to early diagnosis, quarantine, and medical treatment suggestions.
Rapid in vitro diagnostic immunoassay analyzer by EZquick was seen as a suitable home healthcare diagnostic tool used for food safety, drug control and even pet healthcare. Advanced Thermo-Optical Modulated (ATOM) nucleic acid amplification test kits with instrument by RiCHE can be of great help at long-term care facilities for screening to prevent infection outbreak.
Also under the spotlight were an automatic benchtop diffusometer for rapid antimicrobial susceptibility testing by Taiwan Leak Technology; the A.I. pathology platform by ALOVAS; a first-in-class antibody for cancer and fibrosis therapy by Just Win Biotech. Co.; as well as the large segment gene editing technology by GEcoll.
All these seven biotech innovations can be seen as good outcomes from the research-industry tie-up, said GLORIA NCKU, which is devoted to industry-university cooperation by helping firms to make use of the resources NCKU can provide.
Working with the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO), Bio Asia Taiwan boasted 1,700 booths this year, attracting exhibitors from 20 countries, such as the U.S., Canada and the U.K.
