NCKU GLORIA works earnestly in accelerating the international promotion of Taiwan and NCKU technology. NCKU Hospital is actively engaging in training national medical talents for the south and bridging the bilateral medical industry to implement the policy of “One Country, One Center”. From February 21 to 23, NCKU GLORIA and NCKU Hospital led several Taiwanese medical device manufacturers to the Medical Fair India for product technology promotion and collaboration. The exhibition was held in New Delhi, with more than 550 exhibitors participating in the event, and the number of visitors was nearly 15,000.
With a market size of US$5.2 billion, India’s medical device market is Asia's fourth largest medical device market. It is expected to have a growth rate of 15% per year and a market of US$50 billion in the future; however, the Indian medical market is still in its infancy. At present, there are only about 60 national medical device technology manufacturers in India, and about three-quarters of medical products and technologies are imported, which provides a wide range of business opportunities for Taiwan medical equipment companies. However, in addition to training local personnel as the partner, the fastest way to enter the Indian market is to gain potential business opportunities through fair participation to directly understand the demand of local medical device market, and formulate sales strategies to meet the challenges of the Indian market.
In this fair, NCKU GLORIA mainly took Lily Medical, a subordinate of its corporate member Qisda to India. The main products of Lily Medical are filtration and pipeline consumables. In addition, BenQ Medical, another medical brand of Qisda also presented in the medical fair, mainly for the medical needs of the diagnostic imaging products market in India. BenQ Medical exhibited a portable color ultrasound and medical display developed by the group to show the importance of the Indian market to Qisda. NCKU Hopsital led companies such as Kang Yang, Aeon Astron, EBM, Acrobiomedical, Yibai Technology to India. The products cover mobile aids, biomedical materials, medical systems, dental materials, wound care, bone materials, etc.
In addition to participating in the fair, the exhibitors also paid a visit to a private chain hospital in India. During the visit, they gained a deeply understand of the equipment and medical procedures of Indian hospitals, which have an obvious gap from Taiwan hospitals. For example, the patient data is recorded manually, and they have inadequate ability to establish a database; the doctor wears personal clothes during the operation, and can enter and leave the operating room at will, without following any concept of aseptic operation. Therefore, through this fair, personnel of NCKU GLORIA gained a further understanding of the demand for Indian medical materials market, which will help provide the most accurate products promotion advice and better international links for the future development in the southern market.
