National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) held a wrap-up presentation on Nov. 9 to celebrate its efforts to promote start-ups, which the school said was a great platform to cultivate new ideas.

The day-long event was a follow-up of the “Dreams Come True” project the school’s Global Research & Industry Alliance (GLORIA) and Transfer and Business Incubation Center jointly kicked off in May. A total of 22 start-up teams benefited from the project and were able to realize their ideas into prototypes.

Over 50 students and 9 professors from various departments participated, while two NCKU Hospital doctors and 8 NCKU employees were also eager to be part of the inspiring project. Eleven teams even ended up with starting their companies, according to the Tainan-based university.

Tsung-Ching Wu, CIO&CTO of Asia Silicon Valley Development Agency, and Jesse Chen, CEO of GLORIA NCKU, also took the opportunity to share their insight with the participants, followed by the pitches of 16 start-up teams and an awards ceremony.

NCKU prizes innovation and such activities, just as NCKU President Jenny Su once said, it is innovation that drives the economy, technology and society forward.
